Our highly trained Gas Safe registered engineers are fully qualified and can carry out all gas purging and gas strength/tightness testing to TPCPlA (up to and not exceeding 1 cubic meter) and TPCPl. (testing and purging exceeding 1 cubic meter) All these will involve a risk assessment before any testing or purging takes place, this will be done via a site visit.
Gas testing and purging is a service that must be carried out for safety reasons and gas regulations.

A gas strength or tightness test would be carried out before purging any pipe work, this is to test the pipe for any leaks and to test the integrity of the system. A strength test is carried out on new pipe work only or sections added to existing pipe work. Gas testing of pipe work is normally carried out as well along with annual commercial boiler servicing to make sure the system is always safe to use. The Gas safety regulations state that business owners are responsible for making sure that all gas installations on their premises are safe to use.
This is carried out where a new gas main has been installed, or if there has been any modification work where pipe work has been added or components into systems. Before any purge a sound test result must have taken place and recorded on a gas certificate, to prove that the system is gas tight. A commissioning purge is when gas is introduced to the system for the first time, or after any modifications to pipe work.
This is carried out when the system needs work carried out along the system, or plant is being removed from service. This can be done as a whole system or part of system, this is to take out all the gas in its entirety and eliminate any pockets of gas. Sometimes this is carried out when buildings are demolished to avoid any release of gas or any explosive events occurring, or when there is a requirement to have hot works ie welding or blow torch use on a system.
